Blackmores has been an industry leader in Australia for more than 80 years. Our company had its beginnings in the 1930s, thanks to the vision and passion of one man, Maurice Blackmore, an English immigrant whose ideas about health way were ahead of their time.
Maurice Blackmore's (1906-1977) belief in the health-giving properties of herbs and minerals led him to develop a whole system of healthcare based on naturopathic principles. His views on natural health, preventive medicine, the environment and recycling were nothing short of radical in the 1930s, and his work opened the doors to new ways of treating illness and maximising health.
Maurice was also responsible for starting one of Australia's first health food stores in Brisbane in 1938 and he worked with colleagues and friends to establish the first naturopathic colleges and professional associations in the country. His beliefs are still valid today and his teachings are incorporated into the training programs of many natural health practitioners.
Maurice Blackmore's son, Marcus, took the reins of the business in 1975. As Blackmores' Chairman, Marcus has furthered the vision established by his father and made Blackmores a world leader in natural health, all the while committed to the company's founding principles.
Blackmores' unrivalled heritage is at the heart of who we are today and guides our holistic approach to health and wellbeing. We are proud to be pioneers in natural healthcare and remain committed to delivering new and innovative products, reliable health information and unsurpassed quality to our customers.

Blackmores' strong commitment to quality ensures that our products consistently meet or exceed the expectations of our customers as well as comply with Australia's high regulatory standards and requirements. Our rigorous standards guarantee high quality natural healthcare products and services you can trust.
Blackmores works with the highest quality raw material suppliers to source and select the very best possible ingredients available. Our strategic sourcing team travels the world to ensure we have transparency over the supply chain.
As an example, we conduct audits of the fisheries catching our krill for Blackmores Eco Krill and keep records of the exact coordinates where each batch of krill are caught. This means customers get the same quality product inside every single bottle.
Blackmores' products are developed by a highly experienced and dedicated team of formulators including naturopaths, chemists, scientists and product development pharmacists. They base each formulation on their in-depth knowledge of the principles and practise of product formulation along with a rigorous and comprehensive review of the latest scientific advancements in natural medicine.
We only produce products that our formulation team have concluded that science and tradition supports as being safe and providing a benefit to our consumers.
Blackmores adheres to the most rigorous safety and quality standards in the world, upheld by the Government's Therapeutic Goods Administration.
Our Quality Control processes provide consumers with the confidence that all our products meet our demanding specifications by being rigorously tested during all stages of manufacture. Products that do not meet our very high quality standards are simply not accepted.
We also commission independent chemical and microbiological testing at TGA-licensed laboratories for our products, as well as work with a variety of regulatory and government bodies to understand the complexities of each markets' requirements and successfully achieve compliant registrations.
Trust has to be earned not bought and we recognise that consumers put their trust in us when it comes to their health.
As an industry leader, Blackmores is always seeking to drive innovation. Each year we commit to a strong new product pipeline based on the latest research and scientific findings to enable us to provide quality health solutions with a strong evidence base.
Every year Blackmores spends more than $2 million on research, development and innovation. In 2013-2014 we invested in more than 25 clinical trials in partnership with some of Australia's best educational and research institutions. To learn more, visit the Blackmores Institute website.

Our founder Maurice Blackmore understood the link between healthy people and a healthy planet, which is still core to who we are today.
Blackmores has a long-term commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. As responsible corporate citizens, we believe we must address the issues of environmentally sustainable practices relating to all aspects of our business, demonstrating care, respect and compassion for our people, the broader community and the environment.
Blackmores is continually exploring ways to reduce the environmental impact of our product packaging, increase recycling rates and develop innovative sustainable packaging solutions.
We are a founding signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant, a sustainable packaging initiative which is changing the culture of business. This agreement between government, industry and community groups aims to find and fund solutions to address packaging sustainability issues. To read more about Blackmores' Australian Packaging Covenant 2010-2016 Action Plan, click here. For access to Blackmores Australian Packaging Covenant Annual Reports click here
Blackmores has used glass as its preferred container since the early 1960s based on its superior contents protection, recyclability and premium presentation on shelf. The majority of our products are packaged in glass or, for larger bottles, a lighter, more durable recyclable polypropylene pack.
In 2014 we introduced a 'closed loop' process for bulk deliveries into our packaging facility. This process has removed inbound cardboard and plastic waste, reduced handling times and waste removal costs, and increased operational efficiencies.
Our Quality team has full visibility over the composition of materials to ensure our packaging is free of toxic chemicals (e.g. plasticisers, mercury and BPA) that can leach out of other packaging materials. The anti-tamper closure ring on the lid of our recyclable amber polypropylene packs is designed to prevent it from separating from the bottle, which is a common threat to wildlife.
We were one of the first businesses in Australia to adopt the Planet Ark Australian Recycling Label, as well as one of the first to implement paperless order picking.
Blackmores believes that our insistence on using high quality ingredients should never come at the expense of the environment. We partner with several stewards in sustainability including the WWF, Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Antarctic Wildlife Research Fund (AWR), to ensure unrivalled transparency and quality control over our supply chain from catch to capsule.
Blackmores manages all environment and sustainability initiatives whilst maintaining compliance with the Therapeutic Goods Administration's high standards of good manufacturing practice. Our achievements have been recognised with numerous industry accolades, including the Australian Packaging Covenant Award two years running (2014 and 2015) and a WorldStar Packaging Award.
The Blackmores Campus, our company's headquarters, has a range of sustainable features including a gas-fired tri-generation plant, which services our energy needs and runs parallel to the grid. A native beehive on site helps promote biodiversity in the local environment. Read more about our Campus here.
Staff also participate in the APC's annual Business Clean Up Day on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
Blackmores has a long-term commitment to social responsibility and we strive to make a difference by contributing to the community to help create a brighter future. We proudly support a wide range of charitable and community organisations, including:
Blackmores supports additional community groups and fundraising and awareness activities throughout the year with financial contributions, Blackmores product charity hampers and staff-driven fundraising initiatives such as breakfast BBQs.
We also support the following Australian athletes who continue to inspire us all:
Blackmores Sydney Running Festival
What better way to help make a difference?! In 2015 our iconic event attracted more than 32,000 participants who raised $1.2 million for 33 official charities including Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation and Can Too Foundation. This brings the total to more than $15.5 million raised for charity since the event's inception.
To register for the 2017 event or learn more, click here.
Our employees are encouraged to participate in a charitable scheme whereby 0.5% of their taxable pay is deducted each payday and placed in an interest-bearing trust account. Blackmores matches this amount and twice yearly each participating employee nominates a registered charity to receive the donation.

Dividend Reinvestment Plan election preference changes must be received by 5pm (AEDT) on 6 March 2019 to take effect for the 2019 Interim Dividend.
Dear Shareholder,
The Blackmores Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP) enables shareholders to reinvest distributions in the Company's securities.
Shares will be issued under the DRP at a price based on the market price. The price may be reduced by a discount which the Blackmores Board may determine from time to time and which will be announced to the market.
The discount for the 2019 Interim Dividend is 2.5%.
In addition, shareholders will not be charged brokerage or other transaction costs for shares issued under the DRP.
This offers shareholders a simple way to increase their shareholdings in Blackmores and support the funding of growth initiatives.
Your current DRP election preference is the same as for the previous dividend (2018 Final Dividend), unless you have changed it since.
No action is required if you do not wish to change your current preference.
If you would like to change your preference or are unsure what your current preference is, we'd encourage you to contact Computershare as soon as possible.
Computershare Investor Services Limited can be contacted on the details below
Phone: 1300 855 080 (Australia) or +61 3 9415 4005 (overseas)
If you already know your preference, you can choose to opt in or opt out:
Online through the share registry website
computershare.com/investor
By completing and returning a DRP form available at
computershare.com/investor
Changes must be received by 5pm (AEDT) on 6 March 2019 to take effect for the 2019 Interim Dividend, which will be paid on 20 March 2019.
